You help improve children’s quality of life

Our Mission
Every Child. Every Story. Transforming Lives.
At the Society for the Relief of Disabled Children (SRDC) we believe that every child with severe disabilities or rare diseases deserves the best quality of life possible.
What’s more, those that care for them deserve the best quality of life too, paying attention to the details that can improve the lives of children in need and people who care for them.
Through our intervention programmes, sponsorships of treatment, and research, training and development, we give vital support to underprivileged children who otherwise may not get access to such services.
These, plus education and community outreach and support activities help us make a difference where it matters most in Hong Kong. Transforming lives, so that every child has a brighter story to tell.
At SRDC, we often ask ourselves: How can we better support children and teenagers? Not just in terms of advanced medical care, but also in their personal development. We provide the tools and opportunities for social interaction, education, and to explore hobbies. This is what true all-round development looks like.”

How we help?
We focus on the holistic wellbeing and development of children with special needs
We are beginning to better understand children with a variety of developmental, behavioural, and mental health problems and learning disabilities. We establish our work in supporting and bolstering the work of DKCH in 4 areas:

01 Intervention
Direct financial support | Treatment sponsorship
For DKCH’s Child Assessment Centre and other parts of DKCH, strategically directing it to areas not covered by HK Government subsidies, to enhance the quality of care. Special attention will be given to the ventilation centre, as the Hospital Authority strategically positions DKCH as the main service provider for VAC/VAI in Hong Kong.

02 Research, training and professional development
Funding for specialised training | Rare disease research
To significantly contribute to the professional growth of our staff working in or having a link to DKCH and QMH. SRDC is also well-positioned to help advance the understanding of the disease, and develop diagnostic tools and treatment for children with special needs

03 Community Outreach and Engagement
Exchange & training | Influence government policies
By taking a holistic, community-based approach, SRDC can help children with special needs, their families, and caregivers by providing them with funding, tailor-made services, and support to thrive in their everyday lives.

04 Advocacy and education
Awareness campaign | Educational workshops | Community events
We work to shape a more inclusive society. In addition to the established KOB puppet troupe, SRDC is to become a leader in promoting awareness and education on child health.

Children get irritated and bored with traditional therapy, sometimes they even refuse to practice”
– Kennis HA, Senior Occupational Therapist, DKCH
It’s not hard to imagine when their little bodies are already aching. But ever since SRDC introduced an interactive projector system to the hospital, Shing Shing’s attitude towards therapy has changed dramatically. Training therapy no longer feels like a chore; it becomes something he eagerly looks forward to.
SRDC’s commitment to holistic care ensures children receive the medical equipment, support, and regular family visits they need. Shing Shing’s transformation is a testament to the power of the right support. With your support, we help children unlock their full potential and live a happier life.
You Make These Stories Possible
Thanks to your generosity, children are given more than just traditional medical care – they’re given the chance to improve their quality of life. To help these children take the next step toward a brighter future, we need your continuous support.
I don’t want to just rely on government funding anymore. I want to live and work on my own, and I hope society can offer more opportunities for people like me.
