United Christian College student Wong Yue-ching was born with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic connective tissue disorder which could cause loose joints and skin to bruise easily and affects at least one in 5,000 people worldwide.
Falling in love with table tennis at primary six, she overcame numerous challenges from her condition through determination, hard work and special needs training to pursue the sport.
Helped also through magnetic rod medical intervention surgery, the development of which was sponsored by SRDC. She became a para table tennis star who has won international accolades for Hong Kong and China, including a Gold medal in the women’s team table tennis and Silver in the women’s singles in the Dubai 2017 Asian Youth Para Games.
